The SR300 is easy to use and that is what I wanted. My wife can easily use it to shoot videos / stills of our little one. Video from this camera is in mpg format, so your DVD software does not have to convert the files. You can burn DVDs directly using Sony's software or even easily edit your own DVDs using Nero without converting the files. Videos are great to watch on your TV. Still Picture quality is great. I have jumped from 3 MP to 6 MP stills and am impressed. Also don't have to carry 2 different cameras around for every trip. Could definitely use a slightly longer battery life. Am thinking about buying a spare for my trips. Overall, a great camera with easy to use features.

The Sony DCR-SR300 is a great standard definition camcorder to be sure. The video in bright light looks great. Few camcorders this easy to use can produce that kind of image. The MPEG-2 format flavor Sony employs on their camcorders allows for simple drag-and-drop files. Most HDD and DVD camcorders from other manufacturer split the video and audio, requiring a 3rd party software to piece it back together. All in all, though, we’re not ready to part with our money on this one unless the price drops considerably. HD is the future, and if you are willing to spend this much, we’d recommend investing in forward-facing technology.

The Sony DCR-SR300 digital camcorder should appeal to casual, snapshooter-type videographers, but it's somewhat pricey, since its video quality still can't match better MiniDV camcorders.

I bought this camera based on the spec print out given me at CC. Extremely dissapointed that it has no remote, especially considering how much data you could store and sit back and plug it into you TV. I would gladly pay extra for that feature, but it's not available. I considered returning it but did not care for the Sony (touch screen menu) and definately read such horrible reviews for the JVC. All this said I must admit that I absolutely love everything else about the camera. It's appears to be well maid and the layout of the controls, especially the joy stick is wonderful, Except for the lack of the remote control, I would recomend this camera to anyone.

We were looking for a basic camcorder for home videos, and this matched what we're looking for. One of our main criteria was to buy a HHD camcorder, and at the time Sony and JVC were the only other brands offering HHD camcorders, though both generally had good reviews, it was Panasonics Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) that won us over, BIG difference in video quality when compared.

The Panasonic SDR-H18 hard drive camcorder, which stores footage on a 30GB hard drive and eliminates the need to juggle tapes or discs, gives you excellent quality and crisp sound and picture for a relatively low price. Ideal for bloggers and others looking to capture event or news footage and display video on a Web site. Compact size, long battery life and easy-to-cradle design along with secure hand strap make this perfect for journalists on the go.

The Panasonic Palmcorder SDRH18 is a camcorder that can be described as Flash Media / Internal Memory . Like many other devices in this market, the recording media it uses are: Hard Drive. This SDRH18 has a good projecting mode and is using a CCD sensor.

Combining the simplicity of SD recording, a roomy 30GB hard drive, a long zoom, and pleasing image quality, the SDR-H18 is a good choice for a standard-definition, hard-drive camcorder.

On the whole, the Xacti E1 just jumped to the top of my wish list, even above the iPhone.

This is not your average camcorder. We recently purchased a new Canon Digital Rebel XT 8MP Digital SLR Camera with EF-S 18-55mm f3.5-5.6 Lens (Black) to replace our old point and shoot and realized that we missed the "Video" features of the point and shoot. We have owned an older Canon camcorder but really hate lugging around tapes and getting the video to the computer is not fun. So we purchased the Sanyo Xacti VPC-E1 and have been very impressed. I have never seen such a small lightweight waterproof camera anywhere. If you are looking for a great easy to use camcorder and you aren't worried as much about video quality, the Xacti VPC-E1 is the way to go.
