I replaced my 3 year old Linksys wireless G device with this because I was frequently dropping connections, especially when my wife used our 5ghz cordless phone.. That problem is virtually eliminated with my new Netgear WNR834M! I can work outside and have not lost a connection in over 2 weeks.

I have been searching for agood router for over 2 months, I had very different reviews on many routers, some say linksys is better, some say netgear is better ,some say d- link is better. so what I did , I bought all of them and I install them one by one in my house. they were all easy to install , easy to navigate but for the best speed and the best range . I used the same computers with all of them.the linksys and the d -link didn't have agood rang up stairs for my laptop or through out the whole house. but this route wnr83m is the winner . so I choose it and I returned the rest.

If you want to buy a draft-n router now, the RangeMax Next is your best choice, with very good features, setup, and ease of use, and reasonable performance.

I'm giving this a "9" because it works great and was easy to set-up. I'm not "tech-enough" to know the subtleties, I just know that it works great for my two-computer home office. Best styling I've ever seen from a router! No antennas or blue/black color combos that seem to be so standard. While styling may not be so important when it comes to routers, at least this one won't cramp your style. Would probably look great when paired with a Mac if you have no choice but to put it on display.

For months now I've been struggling with my BT 105 Voyager ADSL modem using the Eciadsl Linux driver, but with the repeated syncronisation problems, disconnections and general unpredictability I decided it was time to invest in an Ethernet modem. Then I discovered the Netgear DG834G 54Mbps Wireless ADSL Modem Firewall Router on Amazon.
This is an awesome piece of all in one hardware, that's a real dream to configure through Firefox/IE (great idea). It's reliable, secure and fast. I only wish I'd invested in one sooner. It is great value for money too!
The only problem I had was with my wireless laptop card. This was easily solved extracting the Windows .inf file and compiling using ndiswrapper in Ubuntu Dapper Drake. Although this will not affect the 90% of Windows users out there who should have no problems...tech support what do you think?

I bought 2 of these as they seemed good value. So good in fact, I bought them because I couldn't not. I did not even have a home for 1 of them, but I gave it to my mum in the end. She had a Speedtouch 330 modem which kept kicking her offline, and the Netgear DG834G 54Mbps Wireless ADSL Modem Firewall Router solved that problem straight away. I love them, and I am about to buy another. They are so simple to set up and they work very well. Good wireless reception as well.

I acquired the Netgear DG834G 54Mbps Wireless ADSL Modem Firewall Router as part of a package when I subscribed to Sky Broadband. I have had nothing but trouble with it since I set it up. I have now followed the advice I found on the web, and I have attached the "feet" to enable the router to stand on one end. Allegedly, this will cure the overheating problem.

Been in IT for many years and I have used many routers and to date the only ones I have found to be excellent for home use are Netgear, Linksys and Belkin. I was using a DLink and it had to be restarted every day to allow access to the net. Got the Netgear DG834Gv3 last week and it just works! Very easy to set up even without the CD. But for those that need help just pop in the CD in and enter your details. Easy! Wireless also is at 100% signal strength through one wall and one ceiling.

Ok, sounds good. Though first a sad story, well kind of. I had my trusty DG824M since July 2003, to replace my DG814. I was planning to upgrade any week now, but then, for no reason, the router died.
Just like that. Luckily, with a 3 year warranty, I feel a little better, and have registered and emailed netgear about this issue.
I bought the latest DG834GT, because I love the way netgear routers look. By far the best looking, most boring part of a PC. Well done netgear for this.
This review is not a big tech review of how well the router does something fancy, but a mini review, to show what u get, does it work, and is it good. Nothing more.

I've had this router for over a year now and never experienced any problems. My ISP is AOL, and before I got this router, I didn't have a moment's rest because the modem provided by AOL (a BT Voyager) was a nightmare. I've never had to phone AOL customer services since. The router is aesthetically pleasing, easy to set-up and completely compatible with AOL (whether or not they insist they don't support it). I've recommended this product to many of my friends (who use Plusnet and BT Broadband) and they have had no issues with it either. I can only assume that other reviewers' complaints of the router are due to their own human error or to a bad batch of the router. I thoroughly recommend this product.
