Sony has jump-started its newest racing franchise in a fantastic way. Yes, the limited number of tracks and gameplay options hold it back quite a bit, but the fundamental racing is incredible. The variety in vehicle types is great, the track designs are awesome and the online is extremely fun. We simply cannot wait for a sequel.

They have all the haste of a bike but benefit from being much more robust. You can really jerk them around and, if you're skilled, can barrel across rocky areas without flipping out and crashing. Their biggest drawback is that it doesn't take much for them to explode.

MotorStorm is a fantastic racing game and a brilliant new IP for Sony. There are however some things which are missing from the game which stop the game from getting an even higher score. The omission of a quick race option and the short single player mode both indicate that the game's development was a little rushed for the launch of the PlayStation 3. Despite this, MotorStorm comes highly recommended, it's an addictive racing game and features some of the most incredible AI ever seen in a console game.

Assigning a score to MotorStorm is one of the trickier tasks I?ve encountered lately. The game is less expansive and polished than expected, but the gameplay is supremely exciting ? both online and off. It plays like an off-road version of Burnout Revenge, and that is a very good thing. As much as I?d like to huff and puff about the loading times and the lack of split-screen multiplayer, its status as a first generation release means it?s not expected to be as extensive as a second-gen Xbox 360 game or a glorified last-gen port. MotorStorm is great for what it is; the real test of longevity will come with the already-confirmed sequel.

First-gen titles on a console are usually lacking and unfortunately MotorStorm is no exception. The Japanese version lacks any kind of multiplayer, which would be perfect for a game like this. Fortunately the Euro/US versions will have multiplayer capabilities, which will make this the definitive racing game for the PS3. If you are hungry for adrenalin pumping racing and don?t care much for multiplayer you should get your hands on the Japanese version. Otherwise wait for a few more weeks and buy the translated version. Either way, no one should miss out on this great title.

Motorstorm is a good game that also feels like it has a great deal of untapped potential. As an over-the-top, gorgeous-to-look-at racer, Motorstorm is absolutely a success. As a deep and lasting experience, it's far from it. The question, then, is what's more important to you? Is it of greater import to you that a game feature great racing mechanics and incredible graphics, features be damned? Or does a deep array of lasting modes and features make or break a game for you? If you answered yes to the former, then Motorstorm is unequivocally the game for you. If you answered yes to the latter, pay consideration to just how much you're going to get out of a solid online mode and a cheap-feeling single-player mode that you'll probably never go back to once you finish it. Either way, here's to hoping that the next time around, Evolution turns in a more fleshed-out experience to go with its great game design.

Motorstorm gives PlayStation 3 owners another reason to make their 360- and Wii-owning friends jealous. MotorStorm is one of the best original next-gen offerings so far, a truly unique racer, and just a kick-butt video game overall. While we look to a sequel to fix the complaints, no PS3 owner should pass up the chance to get swept away by MotorStorm.

Overall the game is too limited to be worth buying. Graphically its awesome and the single player game is fun for the first few hours but it will nag at you how good this game could have been.

Fans of Spider-Man 2 will likely feel pangs of discontent over the new problems, yet celebrate the inclusion of the new features. Meanwhile, people who couldn't care less about Spider-Man's past games may still find this one enjoyable, but don't say I didn't warn you when you get that urge to put your controller through your brand-new HDTV.

Before you grab your pitchforks, light your torches and head toward my office, Spider-Man fans need to know that I'm one of them. I'm going to the midnight showing of Spider-Man 3. I played Spider-Man 2 like mad and loved it. I'm not some jerkstore reviewer who doesn't get what a Spider-Man game is supposed to be? If you're desperate for a Spider-Man game, this one fills your need for webs, but other than nailing what web-swinging should feel like, this game is a bust. We were promised a Spidey experience that was next-gen and expanded on everything Spider-Man 2 did right, but we were given a buggy game that's just Spider-Man 2: Special Edition. Combat is brainless button-mashing, the bosses are frustrating and cheap, the visuals aren't worthy of your PS3, and although the random crimes aren't the same events over and over, they definitely reuse the same ideas.
