There are good and bad things to say about Dell's 1320c colour laser. It's nicely turned out, runs quietly and produces good quality print, but is comparatively expensive to run and lacks any real expansion potential. To add colour to business documents in a small office it would be good value, but it's unlikely to keep up if your business expands.

The Dell 1320c is a decent choice for a small office or work group, but a little more cash will net you a faster printer with better print quality.

Despite its lagging black print speeds, the Brother HL-4040CN does a lot of things right and makes a compelling color laser printer for small offices or workgroups.

This is a great product for small offices or homes and will cope very well with all print jobs sent to it. To be honest it just doesn't muck about. Its also very quiet and has a sleep mode for when its not in use which makes it silent and light free? One thing I should say about laser printers is that the toner is carsenogenic. Meaning that it can give you cancer. However only in very high doses. It would be wise not to have this or any laser printer on your desk especially if your going to use it alot. Its good to have them in well ventilated large rooms preferably without people too close to it all the time.

If your have for quantity and quality are modest, the Brother HL-2040's sticker price will make it at home on your desk.

I bought this printer for the express purpose of printing 100-page handouts for an anger management class I teach. I've had no problems whatsoever with this printer. It seems very fast, I've never had a paper jam or paper curling. I've not counted copies from the toner cartridges, but I've printed a lot of pages without replacement. After the rebate it was about $[...], so well worth the price. No problems installing with my Windows based OS.

The Brother HL-2040 makes a fine first laser printer. To serve a small workgroup, seek its sibling, the HL-2070N.

I will say it again, I really love this printer! I don't think I'll ever go back to an inkjet printer ever again.
