This is a workhorse, not for the whimpy and the Cost
No hiccups or problems. This has been a great investment. If you want to watch a Blu-Ray disc on a 17" it's perfect,the Full HD 1080 monitor can handle it with ease! Games do very well also! All the bells and whistles and no regrets.(No TV) Sony packed power and video into a small package of impressive PUNCH! If you don't like carrying weight, this isn't for you. It's gravity lends to it's workhorse quality! Get a good extended battery, it eats voltage.

Must Have HDCP Compliant HDMI Device
If you want to hook this up to a TV and watch BD movies, the TV must have a High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) compliant HDMI connection. Apparently this is a secret because you can't find this on Amazon's description or on Sony's website specifications. It also seems to be quite difficult to determine if a TV is HDCP compliant, so call the manufacturer if you can't find it in a specification sheet or in the manual. I think this is a great laptop.

Looks nice!
ony use to be associated with quality - and I own 10 Sony electronic products. The older they are the more reliable they are. Economics must dictate the disqualification of their warranties, as I have everything but a Sony PC that works and a Sony organization that will stand behind their products. It is only 2 months old & I registered it when I bought it! I guess it takes litigation to get them to do the right thing - so beware of the New Sony! ...

After spending a considerable amount of time with the T61 I have found it to be an excellent notebook. It would be a great choice for anyone looking for a mid-sized widescreen so long as they value performance over portability and are willing to spend the extra money on the security, features, and build quality that go along with the ThinkPad’s T series.

Delivers good performance
The Lenovo ThinkPad T61 is a solid nugget of a machine with a good deal of power under the hood and will keep things running smooth under most conditions. Although it lacks the draft-n Wi-Fi connectivity it still boasts the speed of the new Santa Rosa platform.
