A good unit for the money, but requires many improvements in overall usability. Wait for updated software before buying. Audio quality is fantastic, and the built-in amplifier strong enough for most stock vehicle speakers. The radio itself also looks nice physically. It's well constructed, and quite hefty in weight. Be careful though, the acrylic screen surface is very prone to scratching and finger prints.

Aside from some usability niggles resulting from its compact size, the JVC KD-NX5000 offers about as many car tech features per square foot as you can get.

I would highly recommend this camcorder to anybody seeking a hard disk drive camcorder. The CCD may not be a full mega pixel but the video quality is decent. Also it is very easy to use. Its size is also an advantage. The 34x optical zoom works really well and when you add the digital zoom you can zoom up to 68x before the video quality starts deteriorating. The digital image stabilization works good, but not as well as the optical image stabilizers in Panasonic's cameras and camcorders. You will need to buy a spare battery though because the included battery has a short life.

In my opinion, I use the camera for just about everything, I record anyting that looks interesting. But, I tell you, it's a pain getting them edited, or onto a dvd with current software I had. I have to use their specific software, because my current dvd software doesn't support .mod format. If they would have recorded into another format, it would be the perfect camera. But for that downfall, I give it an eight.

Buy if you plan on making good, long movies and will use often. For occasional use, more basic camcorders can be found for less.

Overall we've very happy with the camera. We went to Best Buy to purchase it and got the warranty, which covers cleanings, and just about any form of damage (including if I drop it, which could very well happen) except loss or theft. Hopefully we'll continue to be happy with our purchase.

Wow, these HDD cams get such negative reviews, but IMHO I really like this cam. Of course, things can be improved(i.e. a better lens, record in .mpg, not .mod) but for family activities and around the house shooting this cam is great! To be honest, I really could not tell the diff b/w the MG255 and MG155 video quality. If you really wanna see improvement you'll have to go with the MG555. Anyhow, I love the size and I love the HDD. I love that it records in a file format that is easily transferable to the computer(as well as easily editable[magix is a great program for beginners]). I would definitely recommend! I really don't understand the negative press. It's definitely not perfect but it suites my needs quite well...

The video quality of this little camera is awesome. It's very lightweight and compact so it's a dream to carry and use. The only thing I found fault with was the flimsy plastic charger plug receptacle cover which looks like it will break off quickly with regular use. Also, I recommend an external battery charger along with an extra battery if you anticipate heavy use. That way you won't have to rely on the camera to charge the battery as is required as it comes from the factory. For the price, you'd have a hard time coming up with a better Mini-DV camcorder.

If you're looking for a budget camcorder with great optical zoom, outstanding outdoor (or very well lit) performance, a nice selection of manual controls but is still easy to use, then the JVC GR-D350 should be one to check out. Despite the disappointing low-light quality, it still outperforms comparable Sony camcorders on virtually every count. Even though the Canon and Panasonic models are stronger in every area that the GR-D350 has weakness, this can still be a great buy (not quite well-rounded, but almost) depending on what you really expect out of a digital video recording device.

Better than Sony. This time around, JVC is stuck in the middle whereas Canon and Panasonic have made the top of the budget-priced camcorders.
