Distinctive product
6 out of 6 users found this review usefulThis is not necessarily a budget projector, but considering the advanced features and "convenience package" Mitsubishi throws in with motorized lens shift, focus and zoom - not to mention the sleek lines and beautiful housing - you do indeed have a value product. One must also consider the calibration results - if this is consistent across all models, then the HC5000 gets my complete thumbs up as a "must-see" product and one of the nicest pictures I've witnessed this year. In a sea of new 1080p projectors being released this year, Mitsubishi has a distinctive product that sets it apart as a leader. If you're shopping for a 1080p model you owe it to yourself to check it out. If you're a custom installer this unit should be on your very short list as it's certain to make your customers ecstatic.

Remarkable
6 out of 6 users found this review usefulWith the HC5000, Mitsubishi has done a great deal more than just hit a leading edge, low price point with 1080p. The projector is remarkable for its beautifully natural picture quality, as well as a host of features that makes it about as user friendly and easy to install as any projector out there. We are very pleased to give the HC5000 our strongest possible recommendation, and we offer our warmest congratulations to the product managers and engineers at Mitsubishi for a job exceedingly well done.

Fairly attractive projector
6 out of 6 users found this review usefulOverall the HC5000BL is a fairly attractive projector. The black finish should work for most people placing the projector in their theaters (which hopefully have dark ceilings).

Outstanding performer
6 out of 6 users found this review usefulMitsubishi’s HC5000 is an outstanding performer, and the fact that it costs only $4,500 is a welcome surprise (and kinda hard to believe!). Obviously, the engineers at Mitsubishi worked very hard to address the image quality parameters that really matter — grayscale performance and color accuracy. The Silicon Optix video processing is just the icing on the cake.

Stylish and affordable
Although stylish and affordable for a 1080p projector, the Mitsubishi HC5000's black level failings prevent it from earning our recommendation.
