Portable Ipod Unit is definitely as advertised.
Am quite happy with this unit. Works well - haven't used long enough to check battery life but sound quality is quite good.

When the music moves you, move with it
1 out of 1 users found this review usefulYes, you CAN take it with you. This portable stereo audio system brings rich sound from your iPod using jAura acoustic speaker technology. With its self-contained design, universal dock for your iPod, AM/FM radio with programmable station settings, it's easier than ever to bring music with you wherever you go. Not only does it charge your iPod while it plays, but it supports iPod shuffle and features an auxiliary line input to accommodate first and second generations of iPod as well. You can even output your favorite videos to a TV if your iPod has video capability by plugging in to the AV output. It's simply entertainment in motion.

Unlikely to disappoint anyone for the price
Overall, the i552 walks on the fine edge of A- and B+ grades, but on balance, we consider it to be highly recommendable overall - a speaker that sounds good, properly delivers on its promised radio functionality, and includes iPod dock and remote features that have previously only been found in higher-priced offerings. And best of all, since iLuv appears set to officially drop i552’s suggested price to $100 upon release of the video-ported version 2 - a price you can already find at stores online - you don’t need to compromise on dollars to do better than its competitors. As iPod boomboxes go, it’s pretty great, and unlikely to disappoint anyone for the price.

Doesn't sound good but appealing for its value
The iLuv i552 doesn't sound as good as some other portable speaker systems for the iPod, but is appealing for its value—you get more features (AM/FM radio, remote, compatibility with dockable and shuffle iPods) for the money ($120) than in any other boombox-style system we’ve tested. However, its design—a less-than-secure iPod dock cradle, no place to store the remote, and an external AC power adapter—makes it more suited for stationary use with occasional transporting.

Looking for small sound then this is the one for you
The iLuv i552 iPod boombox has a carrying handle joining the two speakers and measures 14.2 x 7.5 x 6.1 inches. A universal iPod dock sits in the center, as do playback controls and a small monochrome LCD. Power, AV out, and line-in ports are on the back, and it comes with a wireless remote and A/V cable. If you're looking for a small sound, this is your speaker dock.

A multi-tasking clock radio for iPod lovers
It works quite well. It?s easy to program and while it is a bit larger than the average clock-radio, it allowed me to get rid of the old boom-box I had next to my bed, update my old clock-radio, and enjoy my own music while reading in bed. I still don?t like the fact that I can?t set the iPod?s volume a bit lower while waking up, but the convenience that the unit has brought to my bedside more than outweighs this fact. I?ve been using the iHome for two weeks now and completely enjoy it.

The sun will come out, tomorrow.... You chose how!
I love my iPod. I didn?t want to, I laughed at those who ?needed? a gagillion songs to be available on their portable music player. Well, guess what? Not only have I become one of those fanatics (although, I fear I have always been this way if I think back to all the mixes on tape I would travel with!), but gosh darn it, I like to wake up to a specific tune depending on my day.

"Automatic frequency control" to find the best signal
Sound is certainly above average for a clock radio, but maybe I'm just spoiled by the ipod source quality which is better than radio. The unit also sports a PLL digital FM tuner which is nicer than the old dials still popular on alot of clock radios! Supposedly it has some intuitive "automatic frequency control" to find the best signal...it "fine-tunes" itself if that station isn't dead on. Either way, the one time we used it it sounded great.

The best alarm clock yet
All in all, the IH5 is a sound piece of hardware. The few problems will hopefully be fixed in the next generation unit.At first I though, nice, no more blaring, jolting, alarm clock. I couldn't be more wrong. The IH5 goes from zero volume to full volume in about 5 seconds. So 3 seconds after you've awoke, you're leaping for the volume control. Not the most pleasant way to wake up, but not so different than a conventional alarm clock.

Average, but better than the slew of i-players
I don't own one, but did a comprehensive search/listening in all possible stores. Sound is semi-OK. No base which is a big drawback. However, the sound is quite clear which makes all sales people point at it. At higher volume level is tends to distort. At this price range it's 3-rd from the top.
