I haven't used this scanner very long yet, and haven't had the time yet to try scanning slides. However what little I have scanned so far, I'm very pleased with. This scanner is quiet and fast compared to my previous Canon D1250 scanner. The scanner also feels very well built. Its heavy and even has an on/off switch, which my previous two scanners never had. I prefer having and on/off switch. There is also a thin blue light that lights up on the cover when the power is on.

I highly recommend this scanner: just be sure to put it through all the paces soon after getting it to make sure all the features work. I scanned in about 200 honeymoon slides. One of the best features is the ability to get ride of dust up front, saving HOURS of getting each dust spot off each dusty slide. This feature pays for the scanner in saved time.

The CanoScan 8600F is a fast A4 scanner with built-in Film Adapter Unit (FAU) that can provide pro quality scans quickly and easily. An excellent bundled software package makes it an even more attractive proposition.

Although it was a little slow to warm up, and its photo scans were a touch dark, the CanoScan 8600F proved to be a very good all-around scanner and should definitely be considered if you are looking for a high-quality photo and document scanner.

After doing extensive research on scanners I nearly purchased a LIDE scanner. Someone mentioned in a review that you had to remove the film from mounted slides to scan them. Not so good! I looked further about when the 8600 was released. It is an amazing scanner. Easy to setup, run, and fast. I have only had it for a few days, but have already scanned hundreds of slides & prints.

The Canon CanoScan 8600F delivers reasonable-quality scans for photographic prints and film—both slides and negatives. Its film-scanning features are limited, but appropriate for the price.

I use this scanner for photos and converting documents into PDF format. It does a great job. The buttons in front are very useful. The noise is not bothersome, as all scanners make some type of noise.

I used this scanner for my laptop. This scanner produces the high quality pictures and pdf files. It is very easy to carry and use. Without the need of extra power connection, it can start readily by connecting the scanner to a computer with a provided usb cable. While scanning, it is a little noisy. It uses so many softwares enough to cause a big confusion.
