The Mets posted 100 wins and defeated the Atlanta Braves for the National League pennant. In the 1969 World Series the Mets were heavily overmatched by the Baltimore Orioles. The Orioles succumbed to the Mets in just five games, and the Mets ended their first winning season with a World Series title.
