Pros: silent alarms, expansion capability, less pixelated than other color Palms, USB or serial sync
Cons: SD cards mostly vaporware, still pixelated, dim screen, yet another hotsync connector
One of the biggest problems with the Palm IIIc and the Handspring Prism is screen pixelation, otherwise known as the black grid. About half of the people who own these units don ' t even notice the black grid on the screen, and another 30 percent or so...

I would reluctantly recommend the m505 to someone who feels that color is a necessity of life with the warning that they should look at the device before buying it, and preferably compare it side-by-side with the IIIc and the Prism. Some people who are not bothered by the pixelation may prefer the brightness of the IIIc and Prism. If you are one of the unfortunate people who are really bothered by the black grid, the m505 may still be too pixelated.

Great mid-range handheld device. If you're looking for low end, buy an earlier Palm, and if you're looking for high end, go with a Compaq H3670.

Biggest draw is color screen which is somewhat disappointing. Priced for high-end users. If color unimportant, m500 is slightly better deal than the m505. Read on for other palm options.

The Palm m505's immediate usability is impressive. The Palm 0/S is easy to install and it's easy to set up your Palm (or to upgrade from one Palm model to another). The transfer of data between the handheld and the computer, (accomplished through the USB HotSync cradle), is seamless. The Palm m505 is a true out-of-the-box task solution.

My only reservation about the Palm m505 is the price; the difference between the cost of the m125 and the m505 is several hundred dollars in most instances. You pay for that sleek design, color display, and added features? However, if you like the Palm operating system, and are looking for a Palm handheld with a color display and a slim, lightweight design, the M505 PDA is the one for you.

For what a PDA is good for, this is perfect. You can pay more and get more, but I don't feel those extra features are worth the price difference

Very happy with my Palm 505. It's faster than any PDA I've seen. Easy to work. Charges very fast? I recommend it to anybody

This is not an entry level device, but I would recommend it to anyone looking for replace an old unit or someone with the cash who wants to do it right the first time. I?ll say it now?if they fix the screen, add a collapsible writing area, and throw in wireless internet capabilities, that?s the perfect PDA.

You've really got to go out to a retailer and compare these babies side by side. This model won't be for everyone, especially folks who want to read novels or write lengthy documents directly on their Palm device. For everyday contact and schedule info, and occasional reading and writing, the m505 is a definite winner in my book. A slightly brighter screen would make it perfect and worthy of 5 stars!
