    • EXCELLENT

Sound quality is superb!! Still pictures are great. Video is outstanding. In camera mode the still shots are wonderful at 6.1 mp. In video mode the captured picture shots are still excellent at 4.0 mp. HIGH Quality shots and video in one camera. Close ups are not the best because of range. You need to get a little further away than if you would if you were using a regular camera. But to juggle a camera and a video camera around to an event you can't beat it. We took video and pictures of the kids soccer games and were exceptionally pleased. It was great. The battery life was also good. The camera is compact in size and extremely light in comparison to a regular palm camera. The touch screen for menus worked well for our family. Easily fits into a fanny pack for traveling. Very happy with quaily, purchase, ease of use and computer compatibility. Great Product.

    • Great Camcorder

The SR300 is easy to use and that is what I wanted. Point it and shoot. In video mode, it does 4 mega pixel pictures. While recording, you can capture 3 stills only. If you are in video mode and not recording, you can capture as many as you like up to the limit of the hard drive and/or memory stick. In straight still mode, it is a 6 mega pixel camera. If you are looking for super high quality still camera, this is not it. I went from a 2 mega pixel camera to this, so I am pleased with the quality and I don't have to always carry two cameras around. I am using this to capture kids and this is just what I need.

    • Easy to use..

The SR300 is easy to use and that is what I wanted. My wife can easily use it to shoot videos / stills of our little one. Video from this camera is in mpg format, so your DVD software does not have to convert the files. You can burn DVDs directly using Sony's software or even easily edit your own DVDs using Nero without converting the files. Videos are great to watch on your TV. Still Picture quality is great. I have jumped from 3 MP to 6 MP stills and am impressed. Also don't have to carry 2 different cameras around for every trip. Could definitely use a slightly longer battery life. Am thinking about buying a spare for my trips. Overall, a great camera with easy to use features.

    • Surely a great standard definition camcorder

The Sony DCR-SR300 is a great standard definition camcorder to be sure. The video in bright light looks great. Few camcorders this easy to use can produce that kind of image. The MPEG-2 format flavor Sony employs on their camcorders allows for simple drag-and-drop files. Most HDD and DVD camcorders from other manufacturer split the video and audio, requiring a 3rd party software to piece it back together. All in all, though, we’re not ready to part with our money on this one unless the price drops considerably. HD is the future, and if you are willing to spend this much, we’d recommend investing in forward-facing technology.
