Contrast is key to a good picture, with black showing as really black and white as pure, bright white. The ‘ BRAVIA ’ VPL-AW15 uses specially modified LCDs featuring a High Contrast Plate which stops light from the lamp leaking through when the LCD is blacked out. Conventional panels tend to leak light, so they end up displaying black as dark grey.
