Nikon has created a very nice 6-megapixel entry-level model. It's compact, offers great image quality, good performance (the best in series thus far), as well as plenty of useful exposure settings to help you capture great photos. With an MSRP of US$149 or less, I feel the Nikon Coolpix L11 offers an outstanding value for a camera in this category; just be sure you get a set if NiMH batteries and a large SD card right away!

This is a great camera. I have used and owned several cameras, including three Canons (all great), a Panasonic (not so great), and now this one. Picture quality - Obviously, this is why you buy a camera. I would never buy a camera from a company that isn't famous for them, such as Samsung. I compared the Nikon L11 to the Canon A550/560 since these two are really the best budget buys out there. This is a great camera that I would recommend to anyone.

Some people like to take pictures and not have to worry about changing anything on the camera to make sure they get a good picture and if that's you, then this is a decent camera to suit your requirements. It has more than enough features to cope with whatever it will have thrown at it, so try not to expect too much and it will surprise you. The camera is a decent build and fairly laden with features for the price, but with the Canon and Olympus as competitiors, they both offer slightly more.

The virtue of this well-balanced compact camera is its simplicity. You could hand this to anyone and they'd be able to take pictures, video or record a voice memo. They'd know just how to hold it and which button to press to get a picture. Slide the Mode switch and they could take movies. And show them the Scene mode for a Voice Memo and they'd be able to record their thoughts, too. As a bonus, it offers several key Nikon technologies, including Face-Priority Auto Focus, that are really quite useful. It's a nice little package, a real camera, at a very affordable price.
