Sony ' s first step into the world of digital SLRs is a good one, much to my surprise. Here are my initial thoughts on the Sony D-SLR Alpha 100. Brand Sony has long been a manufacturer of fantastic quality televisions. Sony ' s repertoire...

I have shot with 35mm Minolta Cameras for seemingly EVER and have always loved the quality of my images. I have found that THIS little Baby will take almost every AF ( Auto Focus ) lens that they have made. It fits all of my MAXXUM 7 lenses and takes unbelievabl e photos! I also have a tendancy to shake a lot anymore due to some medical problems, and I found that the Image Stabilizer is fantasic at holding a great, clear shot for me. I like the fact that the flash does not come up automatically and the ISO adjustment and range are a real plus if you take any inside shots and don't want to use a flash. This one WILL take most of the AE Flashes that are out there, but the one on the Camera itself is really good for inside use anyway. When you purchase a GOOD Digital SLR Camera, get the FASTEST storage cards you can. I bought a 1 gig, 133X card for this Camera and the shots are wonderful! It holds about 600 shots in RAW or JPG, set on FINE Quality. Buy it, You will not be sorry!

After 1000 pictures under all sorts of conditions, the Alpha is a clear winner. The anti-vibration feature is the number one feature. I used it to take many "no flashes allowed" pictures and got great results. Even where flashes were allowed, the pictures were better without flash. Looks and feels like a 35 mm camera but far surpasses one in function. Used both the standard lens 18-70mm and the 70-300mm lenses and pleased with both although most shots were with the 18-70mm.

My comments are based on my ownership of both the Maxxum 5D (A100's predecessor) and the A100. Simple assessment - much larger gain in 'NOISE' than
