    • Panasonic Lumix ® DMC-TZ1 Digital Camera

Panasonic introduces the DMC-TZ1, the world ’ s smallest 10x optical zoom camera. A powerful 10x optical zoom Leica DC lens is incorporated into a compact, easy-to-carry body, made possible by the integration of a retractable lens system with folded optics technology. Like all cameras in Panasonic ’ s line of digital still cameras, the TZ1 features MEGA Optical Image Stabilization to reduce blurry photos caused by an unsteady hand. The TZ1 is a high-performance camera, and features the newly developed Venus Engine III LSI, which reduces chromatic aberrations that often occur in high-sensitivity modes of shooting. The result is a winning combination of MEGA Optical Image Stabilization and high sensitivity recording that helps defeat the causes of blurry, dissatisfying images: an unsteady photographer ’ s hand and a moving subject. The lens part of the TZ1 features the world ’ s first integration of a retractable lens system with folded optics technology, realized by the inclusion of a prism.

Pros: Zoom, ease of use, video capability
Cons: No viewfinder; autofocus is a bit sluggish
This is one great camera! I got this 5 Megapixel camera (which I ' ll refer to as the " TZ " ) to replace my dying Fuji Finepix 2800 (2.1 Megapixels), which is several years old and very outdated--this gives you an idea as to where I ' m coming from with my...

    • 5MP makes an awesome camera

For all those that are thinking about buying this camera but at the same time are saying this is only a 5MP and I could put in another $100 or $150 and get 7.1MP or more. Don't even bother. 5MP is more than enough. I did quite a bit of research on this and I have also done picture comparison from a 5MP camera vs a 8MP camera. Result: No difference even when the picture is enlarged to 24x11 inches. Most people never even get pictures sized this big. Even if you do, you wont notice any difference. Cameras at this point are on a Mega Pixel war to see who can put out the most MP's. There is absolutely no reason for you to put in more money for something that is going to make absolutely no difference to you. This is a beautiful camera with great features. If you are not a professional photographer but want just as good pictures as a prof essional camera would take, look no further get this camera before it is sold out. Get it from Crutchfield and get a couple extra bonus goodies with it. Happy Shopping.

    • Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ1 review by PC Magazine

The TZ1 is a 5-megapixel camera that features a 10X optical-zoom Leica DC Vario-Elmarit zoom lens with a 5.2mm-to-52mm range (which is equivalent to a 35mm lens with a 35mm-350mm zoom) and corresponding maximum f-stops of f/2.8 to f/4.2. Both f-stops are larger than what you get with the dual-lens V610, giving you more flexibility in low-light situations. Like most of the cameras in the Lumix line, it has a variety of well-placed buttons and controls. But the menu structure was a little confusing; it could stand to be more helpful and intuitive.

    • Panasonic Lumix DMC TZ1 digital camera Review -

The first feature of note in the TZ1 is its excellent Leica, DC Vario-Elmarit F/2.8 – F/5, 35-350mm zoom lens that backs away into the body, neatly retracting into the camera’s carcass - the large zoom ratio has been achieved using an innovative retractable lens design, employing a prism, folded optics and three aspherical lens elements. Handling wise, the camera sits in the hand nicely and while it is compact for a 10x zoom model, it’s not very pocketable.

A traveller's treasure - the small DMC-TZ1 boasts huge features to make travel photography a real pleasure: The lens part of the super-compact TZ1 features the integration of a retractable lens system with folded optics technology, realized by the inclusion of a prism. Incorporating three aspherical lenses, the crystallization of Panasonic optics technology, results in an amazingly powerful 10x optical zoom LEICA DC VARIO-ELMARIT lens contained within a slim and stylish body.

One of this electronic giant's major achievements is the application of the MEGA O.I.S. throughout the entire range of Panasonic digital cameras. This sort of image stabilizer is essential in a Mega zoom digital camera because the strong enlargement factor and light weight of the cameras. The lens part of the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ1 features the world’s first integration of a retractable lens system with folded optics technology realized by the inclusion of a prism.
