Pros: Small, light, rechargeable, versatile, works great with Garmin training website.
Cons: Slightly bulky shape, no map details, calorie count not accurate, training program so-so.
The Garmin Forerunner 205 GPS is exactly what I was looking for in a sport GPS. Small, light, functional, and easy -- and much more convenient than my old Garmin 12 brick! I enjoy trail running, and I wanted to be able to track what I was doing a...

This little gadget, is a lot esier to use, lighter, more accurate and better than the 201, if you enjoy running, you should buy it, the virtual training partner works pretty good, the workout program you can download from your computer is easy to use and you can actuallt program farttkleks, repetitions, long run with goals or no golas on time and/or distance.

The Forerunner 205 is a great concept, but it seems more like a prototype than a released product. The functionality is very good - tracking courses, distance, pace, time, speed, laps... about 20 parameters logged. Its got multiple training and history modes. The distance, time and auto lap functions were most useful. Screens are customizable. Overall, this is a great concept, but it doesn't seem like the product is ready for prime time.

I really like this GPS better than I thought I would. It is very well made. It picks up GPS signal anywhere. The 205 is great for walkers but I would recommend the 305 for runners. Also can be used as a regular GPS. Great piece of equipment.

Overall, I like the Forerunner 205, and if you can afford it over the Forerunner 201, I would recommend it. The interface is cleaner, the training features are stronger than the Forerunner 201, and with the power of the SiRF star III chipset onboard, the reliability of locking onto that signal in tough locations has gone way up. With the design and interface chanes, the new Forerunner system is a pleasure to use. Now, if you are still interested in using a GPS as a training aid, but the Forerunner 205 is too expensive, the Forerunner 201 is not a bad device.

The Garmin Edge 205 is exactly what Garmin positioned it to be: a sophisticated cycle computer and training partner that derives its data from a highly-sensitive GPS receiver. It is not the GPS unit to get if you’re trying to geocache on your mountain bike or need advanced navigation features… I am most impressed by this device. Setup was easy and the unit fit perfectly on my Gary Fisher Tassajara Mountain Bike.

The successor to the Garmin Forerunner 201 is here, and it's better than ever. Weighing in at just over 2.5 ounces, the Garmin Forerunner 205 breaks new ground in terms of comfort, style, and performance. Totally redesigned, the 205 gives outdoor athletes and runners real-time information about speed, distance, and pace on a device that's easy to use and amazingly compact.
