Pros: Inexpensive, built-in duplexer, network ready, fast output
Cons: A little noisy
We ' ve owned this printer for about 2.5 months and printed 890 pages to date. I have to say this is a great printer! Pros: - It was relatively inexpensive up front - Toner cartridges promise to be the same (7000 page cartridge for about $75) -...

I purchased this printer because I wanted something cheaper to run than my HP Deskjet (toner is much cheaper than ink), I wanted to be able to print from multiple computers and put the printer anywhere I wanted (instead of being tethered to a specific computer), I wanted the printer to be Mac-compatible, and I wanted the printer to have a duplexer to save on paper (it prints on both sides of the page). This was the only printer in its price cl ass I could find that had all of these features. I bought the printer on sale locally and got it for a good price.

The Brother HL-5250DN is a very good choice for heavy-duty use in a home office or as a shared printer in a small office.

Pros: Only measuring 15" x15" x10", this printer is compact and easy to fit into a small office. The Brother HL-5250DN is ethernet enabled, meaning it can obtain a network address and act as a standalone print-server. Suitability: Built for those who need high volume printing, though not in color.

I have this printer and I am very happy with it. It performs exactly as advertised, and it is very fast. When this printer is heating up and printing, I have seen power draws of 900+ watts and voltages around 104 volts on recent 15A residential wiring. This did not cause my UPS to go online, however it is equipped with undervoltage regulation. Many UPSes would go online at this voltage. In any case, your mileage may vary.

This is a great printer. I really like the duplex feature which will save on paper. Another great feature is the easy networking that is built in to the printer this is great to use on a small network or even at home you can place the printer in a remote location and let it do it's thing. For the price this printer is a great value. Picked it up at after rebates and coupons for around $140. Also, the printer comes standard with a full size toner cartridge (standard 3,500 copies) that is a great plus.

Brother has another winner on its hands with the HL-5250DN. Its low price tag and compact footprint make it a good fit for the tight budgets and crowded workspaces of many small offices. Yet this attractive monochrome laser also produces top output quality at outstanding speed, can print on both sides of the paper, and hooks up easily to your network.

The Brother HL-5250DN offers the basic printer features that home office and small business users need, and then some. Its sticker price is also low enough to be affordable for families who want to share a laser printer on a home network. Output quality is excellent. The HL-5250DN supports print resolutions of up to 1,200X1,200 dpi. Text is a rich black and very sharp, even at small font sizes.
