Thus far, I am very satisfied with this camera. Granted I have only had it for a week or so, surprisely it hasn't been as hard to use it as expected. It is hands down the best digital camera I have ever owned and probably ever will own. After using this compared to a simple digital point and shoot, I will only use my point and shoot when I can't possibly use my SLR. In fact I plan to give my Kodak p&s to my mom. Thanks to Tigerdirect and the reviews from personal users that what made me confident in buying this camera. Thanks again.

The new Rebel outperforms the original in almost every respect: it's 15% smaller and 10% lighter, turns on faster, has a higher pop-up flash, reduced shutter lag (an important number often omitted from the spec sheets) to go along with an 8 megapixel CMOS sensor, and 1.7 million (20%) more pixels than its precursor, with a feature set closely resembling the prosumer EOS-20D. The faster XT also records subsequent images at 3 frames per second with an inflated 14 shot buffer, up from the 2.5 fps, 4 shot burst of the original Rebel — a substantial and necessary improvement!

Apart from being smaller and lighter, build quality on the Digital rebel XT has been improved and several new features have been incorporated. The layout of most controls is largely identical to its older sister model, so 300D users will instantly feel at home with the new camera. The camera can capture RAW or JPG images plus it has the option to shoot both simultaneously. When doing so it writes one RAW and one JPG image to card for each frame taken as opposed to the old 300D that only provided a JPG embedded into the RAW file.

Thanks to the new CMOS sensor the smallest Canon SLR now has eight Megapixels to offer. Only Olympus offers an equal amount of pixels in this camera class. The Canon EOS 350D comes with Digital Photo Professional to be able to change RAW images to TIFF or JPEG. This was only available on Canon's professional cameras. It is a pleasant program, a lot better than the original File Viewer Utility.
