APC RS1500 (vs XS1500)

Note that the RS is the version (vs the XS) that is expandable with the BR24BP battery pack. I've got two of the RS1500s, and recently we had a 90 minute long power outage. The standard 1500s can't keep my PCs (three) and network equipment (routers/cable modem, etc.) up for more than 20 minutes. With the add-on pack, I expect to get close to the 90 minute duration (longer than that, go ahead and shut the large loads down!).

I've been using APC UPS's for over 10 years. They have never let me down. The new BR1500 is no exception. Nice piece of equipment. Like all APC UPS's, it can be started up during a power outage if you need to do some work. Simply a nice unit. Of course Provantage had a good price and fast shipping.

This UPS is very quiet and has great software managing it. Good design as far as keeping fat plugs enough space to utilize all battery backup outlets as well as surge outlets. Long lasting battery backup for two of my machines. Surge protection for phone and voice over IP.

This unit not only protects against brownouts and power outages but it conditions the lines. Not just power lines either. It conditions the phone lines and cat5 data lines as well. This unit provides my system with 40+ minutes of uninterrupted power.
