Seemingly forgotten soon after its release, Vietnam War epic We Were Soldiers is an unforgettable look at a drawn out struggle for a landing zone in the early moments of the war. Mel Gibson leads a packed cast as they struggle, constantly out numbered. It never turns away from its graphic violence, ...

When Time magazine reporter Michael Weisskopf went to Iraq to do a cover story on the U.S. soldier as Time's "Person of the Year" for 2003, he came back with the story of a lifetime. Problem is, it wasn't the cover story. It was a story that came from losing his right hand to a ...

Overall this game is excellent. It provides a new look at what a first-person shooter really can be. Games that have spawned from its success are Medal of Honor and Counterstrike. The realism provided is impressive enough to make me glad I am not a soldier.

The NVS ? 7.2 Night Vision Goggles are pretty durable. I know my set went through hell while I was serving in Iraq. I had my NVG?s either on my Kevlar or attached to my assault pack which bounced around in the back of my gunship (a vehicle that has two S.A.W.?s and a 50 Caliber machine gun). The gunship is called out when there is any trouble. The only problem that I had with my NVG?s was the rubber eye pieces would fall off. I would imagine that if a person was using these goggles in the civilian world, they?d last a very long time. Soldiers live with these NVG?s 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and they only needed new batteries about once a week. If you are using these NVG?s on a nightly basis, you?ll need a set of AA batteries about every five days.

The Call of Duty 2 lets you see the war from several different perspectives. In the beginning, you'll play as a Russian soldier, doing battle in the bombed-out city of Stalingrad. Next, it's off to the North African deserts where you and the rest of the British Desert Rats will take on Rommel's famed Afrika Korps in both tank and ground combat. While you'll find yourself using a lot of grenades throughout the game, your enemies will use even more, occasionally throwing littering the ground around you with them.

You don’t have to be an historian to know that the battles your will partake in during your stint as a soldier in Call of Duty 2 are famous (or infamous, depending on your stance on war). You’ll figuratively traipse from the halls of Montezuma to the shores of Tripoli, as you and your squad look to take out Axis troops from all over the globe. Both sides of the ball in Call of Duty 2 are highly trained, which means gamer skill ends up making the difference between victory or defeat, and that is, ultimately, the most important factor in a single player first person shooter.

Call of Duty 2 lets players experience four individual soldier stories as they overcome insurmountable odds in multiple campaigns. Players have the freedom to follow each of the four storylines through for the ultimate character-driven experience, or they can engage in the historic battles chronologically for quick hitting action. Two things which make this game stand out greatly for me is that unlike other games, in online play, it takes a realistic amount of shots to kill someone, whereas is perfect dark zero you can fire the whole round of an automatic rapid fire gun on target, before the enemy dies. The other good point is how in the campaign mode your comrades are very accurate and aggrerssive and contirbute greatly with depelting the enemy's number of troops, and theres alot of you fighting the opposition.

Harsh Times may be little more than an exploitation picture, but we can't take comfort in this self-described "soldier of the Apocalypse" being cut from whole cloth. With our war effort stoking more men like him every day, it takes only a small leap of imagination to get from Jim Davis to GI Steven Green, the 21-year-old alleged rapist-murderer of an Iraqi family... Back on home turf, men like Jim are trying to unwind from something worse than a bad day at the office.

I downloaded the demo for this game, not expecting to be particularly inspired. I was wrong! The graphics are the best I have seen for the 360 to date - jaw dropping in places, and the gameplay was fantastic. I don't know the story to the game - but I was some kind of soldier lost on a planet covered in snow and derelict cities, where aliens (of a Starship Troopers variety) have inhabited. From the normal spider-type aliens - to huge lethal aliens - and nests with flying creatures - on an epic scale. It really did feel like watching a film in places... check out this page for a nice collection of reviews and comments on this fantastic game.
