Pros: Great color, contrast and no ghosting. Wide enough for side-by-side windows.
Cons: Price. Be ready to use the zoom function on your apps.
I ' m a gamer and was looking to upgrade from a 19in CRT to a widescreen LCD. I also wanted a widescreen to make it easier to bring work home and be more productive. Everything I read about the older 24in Dells told me to stay away due to noise issues...

The good: Excellent image quality; full array of video ports; picture-in-picture and picture-by-picture options; USB hub; HDCP. The bottom line: Dell's 24-inch wide-screen LCD delivers excellent image quality and a ton of connectivity options, including video inputs and picture-in-picture settings. Add in a great price, and the Dell UltraSharp 2407WFP is the best value in its class.

The design is minimalistic - simply a black bezel, silver stand and a small Dell logo on the front. Thankfully, the stand is adjustable, allowing you to change the height and horizontal/vertical angles with only light touches. It's great to see full HDCP support on the DVI port, making this monitor compatible with the the next generation of optical and high definition content - a major advantage over the previous model.

The styling has been updated to match that of the Dell 30in 3007, a thinner bezel on a triangular silver stand. It rotates easily on the base and as with the previous model is height adjustable and can also rotate 90 degrees to portrait mode, just by pushing down gently on the right hand side. Dell has also improved the design by making it far easier to set up – the stand clicks on more easily than it did on the 2405.

he 2407WFP has a plethora of video connections (DVI, VGA, composite, component, and S-Video), plus support for HDCP (high-bandwidth digital copy protection). The latter is a bit of future-proofing, as coming high-definition media such as Blu-ray and HD DVD discs may require an HDCP-compliant monitor for optimal viewing of content. Among the adjustable settings on Dell's on-screen menu are three display modes: desktop, multimedia, and gaming.
